Prospect Architecture designed and managed the construction for this landmarked 4-story Brooklyn brownstone. The scope of work included restructuring a garden apartment, installing radiant floor heating throughout the entire house, installing new flooring, installing a new kitchen with large window and door wall opening onto a new rear deck, installing a new half-bathroom, 2 full baths and a master bedroom/bathroom suite and preparing for the future installation of a green roof and roof deck. Environmental considerations include the use of low VOC adhesives and paints, blue jean insulation, bamboo and FSC certified wood flooring, recycled content tiles and countertops, and air sealing in all renovated areas to reduce heat loss and improve fire safety. An energy audit using blower door testing, CO monitoring, and pressure balance testing was conducted to ensure greater overall energy efficiency in the home.
